School Readiness (3–5 years)

School Readiness Program (Preschool & Kindergarten, 3–5 Years)

At Kidscape, our School Readiness program supports children aged 3–5 in their final years before starting primary school. Through our Preschool and Kindergarten program, children build confidence, independence and a genuine love of learning so they feel secure, capable and excited for the transition to school.

Our program is delivered by qualified Early Childhood Teachers and experienced educators who understand that school readiness is about much more than academic skills — it’s about supporting the whole child.

What School Readiness Means at Kidscape

We focus on developing the key skills children need to feel confident and comfortable in a school environment:

  • Social and emotional confidence – building friendships, managing emotions and learning to work with others
  • Independence and self-help skills – packing away belongings, personal care and making simple choices
  • Listening and following routines – taking turns, participating in group times and transitioning between activities
  • Early literacy and numeracy – recognising letters and sounds, counting, sorting and problem-solving through play

Learning Through Play

Children learn best when they are engaged and interested. Our play-based approach, guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, encourages curiosity, creativity and critical thinking in ways that feel natural and enjoyable.

Children develop school-ready skills through hands-on experiences such as:

  • Creative arts, music and storytelling
  • Science, technology and discovery activities
  • Outdoor learning and active play
  • Group projects and collaborative learning

Qualified Teachers and Individual Support

Our Preschool and Kindergarten program is designed and led by qualified Early Childhood Teachers who observe each child’s development and tailor learning experiences to their strengths, interests and needs.

We work in close partnership with families, sharing updates and supporting each child’s learning and development at their own pace.

Transition to School

To help children feel prepared and confident, we support practical transition experiences such as:

  • Learning school routines and expectations
  • Building confidence in group learning environments
  • Transition activities and primary school visits where available

Our goal is for every child to leave Kidscape feeling confident, independent and ready for their next step.

A Strong Start for Lifelong Learning

At Kidscape, school readiness isn’t about pressure – it’s about helping children grow in confidence, capability and a love of learning that lasts well beyond their first day of school.
